My grandaughter’s dorm room now has all of my old Nordic decor, which I donated to her. Neither the top nor the bottom of the egg ever came loose. That one, I believe, was manufactured in the United States. A new one was ordered for myself and the packaging showed that it was made in the United States, which I was looking for. It stated that it was manufactured in Taiwan when it arrived. I contacted customer service at Noric ware, thinking it was a knock-off. The box had a phone number on it. There were no counterfeits, I was told, and they are now being manufactured in Taiwan. I doubted its quality because it didn’t bear the Nordic ware logo. Even though it appeared to be the same, it had a significant difference for me. In the previous egg, the top of the egg fit snugly, but this one didn’t! Because it was so loose, I couldn’t even pick it up by the egg’s top without it falling over onto the counter.
I reported it to customer service because I was concerned about the risk of scalding. However, she stated that it would not “snap” into place and that it should be snug. I thought I’d give it a shot to see if my apprehensions were unfounded. After using it for the first time, my hard boiled eggs took longer to cook compared to using my old method. They were close to being finished, but not yet. Once the eggs were out of the microwave, it was much more difficult to remove the lid so that I could run cold water over them. Everything went smoothly on the first try.
My apprehensions were allayed the second time I used it. My hard boiled eggs required an additional minute of cooking time. After about 5 minutes in the microwave, I carefully removed it to the counter. The scalding water spilled onto the counter as I was putting it down on the counter. Otherwise, I would have been charred beyond recognition. On the other hand, I was using potholders on both hands, which prevented the water from dripping onto my hands. As a result, I requested a refund for the product because it was found to be defective.
Because the aluminum edge has grooves, I’m placing a new order for one that says to twist the top to lock it onto the bottom.
I’m hoping this will give me the same level of protection that I had on the previous model of the Nordic Ware product I gave to my granddaughter. It’s also less expensive than Nordic Ware, which is a bonus. I’ll let you know how the new one compares to my beloved Original Nordic Ware when I get it.
This ISN’T WHAT IT USED TO BE!!! THE ORIGINAL GREAT PRODUCT HAS BEEN TURNED INTO SOMETHING QUITE UNUSEFUL AND MAY EVEN BE DANGEROUS IF USED. One of these I had a few years ago broke in a kitchen accident, and I used it until about 2017. Recently, I’ve experimented with a different brand. The unit’s top swiveled and locked into place. Despite using the correct water level, microwave cooking time, and temperature, an egg exploded and the product’s interior parts disintegrated. The “Nordic Ware Microwave Egg Boiler, 4 Capacity, White” had previously been a favorite of mine, and I decided to order it again. I was eager to get back to using a familiar and reliable product, so I washed and dried it thoroughly. However, I thought I’d better test this new Nordic Ware Egg Boiler first before adding water and eggs, just in case. A previous reviewer had complained that the top of her new Nordic Ware Egg Boiler was loose. Indeed, the top is too loose and does not securely fasten. Only a hair’s breadth separates it from the apparatus. There is no point in using the Nordic Ware Microwave Egg Boiler because the pressure generated by boiling water will easily blow the top off its base. A waste of my money. This product is too dangerous for me to pass along to others.
In March, I purchased a microwave egg boiler, and so far, I’ve hardboiled four dozen eggs with it. Eggs, in my opinion, are an excellent keto food. There are only 70 calories in each hard boiled egg, and there are no carbs in this item. In keeping with the review’s subtitle, I’m a single man who adores eggs. For this method, I simply put a metal rack over the bottom of a microwave-safe container and fill it with water to the marker line. I then fill the unit’s indents with 4 eggs, one for each indentation, and twist the unit’s top to see if it’s secure. The instructions call for a shorter time in a normal 1000 watt microwave; therefore, I set the timer for 10 minutes in my cheap little 700 watt microwave that I bought from Amazon and walked away. Please return in the next 10 minutes or so.. CAUTION!!!! If you leave it in the microwave for more than 10 minutes, it will be extremely hot, so remove it carefully and open it carefully by removing the top (be careful of the hot water inside) To cool the eggs, put them in a bowl of ice water or in the refrigerator (or eat em warm)… Simply peel and eat your food. hardboiled eggs are made perfectly every time if you use this method. If you haven’t seen the movie “cool hand luke,” just trust me and laugh. Functionality and ease of use are 5 stars, but I haven’t dropped it yet, so I can’t comment on its durability. My paper towel is all that’s needed to clean it up after I’ve emptied the water. Steam bath, how filthy can it get? In conclusion, it is extremely simple to use, and its functions are exactly what they are meant to be. More kitchen tasks should be as simple as this one.
According to the instructions given to me. Before using it, I gave the whole thing a good scrub. It dripped with soapy water when I went to pick up the lid the next morning. It’s not possible to completely drain the space between the aluminum and the plastic. I washed it over and over again because soapy water from the previous day was still lingering in the air. No matter how I followed the instructions, I couldn’t get it to “snap” onto the bottom piece like it was supposed to after I added water to the line and threw in some eggs. I decided to proceed with the 9-minute boil. At intervals throughout the remaining 9 minutes of the boil time, water was dripping out of the egg through the two connected pieces. I waited two minutes before removing the boiler from the microwave, as per the instructions. The entire turntable in the microwave was submerged in water. The eggs, on the other hand, were flawless. I’m sorry, but I can’t recommend this product to anyone.
